Personal Identification Number
Every user should have received a randomly generated PIN code via their email. This is YOUR PIN and it’s important that you remember it and keep it secret. Every print job you do will now be linked to that PIN. If you forget your PIN I can reset it, but it can only be randomly generated.
Why do you need a PIN? Well, the reason is simple now all you have to do is press “Print”, Select Black and White, or Color, and you can go to any MFP (Big Printer/Copier) in the building and release your print job.
Printing
In the past when you clicked print this came up:
You used to have to select each specific printer and go to that location. Here is what you’ll see now:
Notice the two printers, DEC-Black & White, and DEC-Color. Depending on the nature of your print job you’ll select Black & White, or Color.
NOTE: If you select Color and you print on a Black & White only printer the job will come out in Black & White and vice versa.
Now you’ll head down to any MFP (Big Printer/Copier) and enter in your PIN and here is what you’ll see:
To release your job that you just printed you’ll select “My Jobs”, and then click each of the jobs you want to print.
This is a cool feature because, now, you can print multiple items, which are stored on our network, then print all of them at once from any MFP. There is also a “History” button under “My Jobs” which will allow you to go back and see what you’ve printed, and you can even re-print or favorite jobs.
Scanning
As you can see in the image below there are three scan buttons. I’ll cover each of those in detail now.
-
Easy Scan - Email: Put the document you want to be scanned into the proper position. Click this button, adjust any settings (File type, DPI, Color, etc), and voila it’s automatically been sent to your raiderpride.org email address.
-
Easy Scan - Home Folder: Put the document you want to be scanned into the proper position. Click this button, adjust any settings (File type, DPI, Color, etc). The Document will now be located in your network drive (home folder, (U: Drive))
-
Advanced Scan: This button will take you back to the old interface. More than likely the “easy” options will be enough for a majority of users.
NOTE: Here is what the “Settings” I’m referring to looks like:
Copying
There are two buttons for copying. I’ll break down what each option does now.
-
Easy Copy: Similar to the Easy Scan options all you’ll need to do is place the desired document into position then click the button. Here is where it’s different, you’ll now input the number of copies desired and you’ll also be able to adjust copy settings.
-
Advanced Copy: This button will take you back to the old interface. There are some advanced options to mess with here. The standard “Easy Copy” should be sufficient for most users.
NOTE: Here is what the Easy Copy settings look like:
